Endeavour

“The freedom to make and remake our cities and ourselves is one of the most precious yet most neglected of our human rights.” David Harvey

Endeavour is an Antwerp based cooperative of architects, urban designers, spatial planners, and social scientists (Bert Timmermans, Caroline Thaler, Hanne Van Gils, Jakob Vandevoorde, Jan Denoo, Jiska Gysels, Jonas De Maeyer, Jorik De Wilde, Karolien Bogaerts, Maarten Desmet, Sophie Leroy, Tara Galmart, Tim Devos, Toha De Brant) with a societal mission to create cities for everybody, by everybody. Endeavour involves citizens in the design and organization of their environment through co-creation, user-centered urban design, alternative redevelopment, and open experiments.

Maarten Desmet, architect by education, co-founder of Endeavour, imagines a city where architects wouldn’t merely serve private desires but help translate collective needs. He co-founded Endeavour as a social enterprise that provides research, innovation, and consultancy in urban planning to make cities more sustainable and inclusive. Maarten’s work can best be understood as an act of bridging. Between imagining and acting
