Feeling Things together

  • Royal Academy of Fine Arts Antwerp/Lange Zaal 35 Blindestraat Antwerpen, Vlaams Gewest, 2000 Belgium (map)

Expanding Academy publication Feeling Things Together is an invitation to participate in the (almost) eternally ongoing research and dialogue that seeks to discover how to imagine and re-imagine novel relationships between things and people that were previously unrelated, and thereby produce new realities”. How do we imagine these new relations? And when imagining, designing, and realizing new realities, how do we make sure to establish harmonious relations between our given contexts, cultures, perspectives, planetary boundaries, and so on? It will fuel the ongoing participatory process for the art integration on the Stadswaag Square.

'Feeling Things Together' is a synthesis of the experiences of Maarten Desmet’s office Endeavour, his research into Bhutan’s ‘Gross National Happiness’, the process-relational thought of Alfred North Whitehead, and the work of the 15th-century Tibetan architect, philosopher, and iron-chain bridge builder Thangtong Gyalpo.
The publication features contributions by Upasana Dahal, Maarten Desmet, Ronny Desmet, Nico Dockx, Gilly Karjevsky, David Price, Alejandra Sarria, Pelin Tan, Wouter Van der Hallen, Judith Wielander, and Louwrien Wijers. Printed by Bruno Devos at Stockmans Art Books

During the artist talk on 26 April, Wouter Van der Hallen and David Price will review some of their collaborations, which they somewhat affectionately describe as ‘anecdote-system projects’, including their visual contribution to the publication.
